- Built with Kiln Dried Logs
Many log home companies offer only air died logs. Framing material is at a lower moisture content because it is kiln dried. As the exterior wall logs dry out, they shrink more than the interior framing which is kiln dried. This can cause severe problems with door and window alignment. And because the roof system bears on the exterior logs, when they shrink more than the interior wall framing, critical structural problems can occur.
- Energy Efficient
Using double wall construction enables us to develop an exterior wall insulating value that is 3 times higher than that is offered by most log home manufacturers. In addition the entire exterior wall area is wrapped with an air barrier to insure minimal even air infiltration. (Even if a caulk failure should occur, air cannot infiltrate the interior of the home.)
In addition, standard in all homes, a) foundation walls are insulated full-height with R-13 fiberglass insulation, b) perimeter rim joist are fully insulated, c) whenever structurally possible, energy type roof trusses are used, d) a minimum of R-38 insulation is installed in ceilings (higher values in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan), e) continuous soffit venting and vent-a-ridge are used to assure good attic ventilation.
